Paris – A Police deputy chief was stabbed to death outside his home on Monday night, 13 Jan, by a man claiming allegiance to the Islamic State (IS). It was reported that the man had allegedly shouted "Allahu akbar" when he was stabbing the police officer. The man then entered the officer’s house, taking the wife and three-year-old son as hostage.
The Police and elite RAID unit were dispatched to the scene, hoping to negotiate with the man to release the wife and son. The perpetrator claimed his allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) jihadist group when negotiating with the police which failed in the end. When the RAID unit and the Police stormed the home, they found the body of the wife in the house. In the ensuing shootout, the man was shot and killed by the police. The couple’s three-year-old son was found safe and unharmed.
This incident comes a day after America suffered their bloodiest terror attack on home soil since the September 11 when 50 people were killed in a nightclub shooting. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the couple’s young son as well as the families of the victims.
